The density dilemma

For decades, the equation in ultralight trekking was simple: those who wanted to save weight had to sacrifice durability. Those who wanted a mat that wouldn't tear had to carry heavy EVA. Those who wanted to stay under 100g often accepted "disposable quality" made from conventional PE.

The xmat breaks this paradigm through materials science rather than marketing. By homogeneously arranging the polymer chains (metallocenes), we drastically reduce the density without compromising mechanical integrity.

It is the absence of compromises: a closed-cell structure that is so fine-pored that it does not absorb water, but so tough that it can withstand direct contact with rock without permanent deformation.

For whom?

This is a 4mm mat, not a sofa. It's designed for insulation against cold ground or to protect an inflatable sleeping mat. It's a tool for mountaineers and thru-hikers, not a luxury item. If you're looking for comfort, buy a 10cm air mat. If you're looking for performance per gram, this is the one for you.

One raw material. Many possibilities.

We deliberately sell the xmat in its full length (200cm) to give you maximum freedom. Since the material doesn't fray, you can cut it with simple household scissors.

Tip: Make good use of the leftover pieces.

DIY project examples:

1. Torso cut

Shorten the length to 120cm

2. Remnant piece: Seat cushion

From the offcuts (40x30 cm)

3. Remaining piece: Soles

The "Patina Guarantee"

We don't promise this mat will look brand new forever. It will get scratched. It will have dents. But that's a good thing. Unlike inflatable mats, a scratch here doesn't mean a loss of function. The closed cells continue to insulate, no matter how "used" the mat looks. Every scar is a kilometer of experience.

Pure monoplastic

The xmat consists of pure, physically cross-linked polyethylene without chemical blowing agent residues or adhesives. At the end of its life cycle, it is highly energy-efficient and cleanly recyclable. Material class 04 (LDPE), but please dispose of it via residual waste/recycling center, as it is a cross-linked high-performance foam.

"Velvet Touch"

The top layer of the cells is open. Even slight pressure or friction (even with fabric gloves) refracts the light differently (like velvet when you stroke it against the grain). This isn't material removal, but rather an optical change in the surface structure. And since we individually inspect and package all our mats by hand before shipping, you will see traces of this.
